The epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time just got picked up for possible production of TV adaptation, Daisy Ridley's at it again to be the modren day Harrison Ford in terms of going beyond Star Wars, there's Mummy reboot, and more on this week's Sunday News.
Below: The best character of The Wheel of Time, and among the classics ever: Egwene al'Vere, Aes Sedai!:

-Sorry for the Billy Zaniacs out there, but the pilot that Red Eagle Productions put out last year, in the middle of the night, on a Saturday... on FXX... was awful. Well and truly awful. And almost ruined any chance of a great, albeit overly long, fantasy series from being adapted. Luckily, Robert Jordan's kin seemed satisfied with a new team and approach.

We don't know yet which studio picked it up and earned Harriet McDougal's trust, but this is much more promising than anything prior about making Randland come to life.
-Already set to team up again with J.J. Abrams on a sci-fi romance drama, Daisy Ridley seems close now to also locking up a new rendition of Shakespeare's Hamlet... from OPHELIA'S POV. And Hamlet's mother. Naomi Watts is set to play the mother, another solid pick-up, and better yet it has a female director!! Claire McCarthy of The Waiting City, is set to helm the re-imagined tragedy. Exciting stuff guys. And Daisy seems to have learned from Harrison Ford: To avoid a Star Wars curse, get cracking fast.

-Russell Crowe and Tom Cruise are prepped to star in Universal Studios' reboot of the classic The Mummy, to join with other classic movie re-dos. I'm a huge, HUGE fan of the 1999 remix. So I... don't know what to think about this.
-Fresh off his showing in Daredevil's season 2, Jon Bernthal is set to get his own Netflix show, as you do, as The Punisher. That's on top of the streaming giant beginning prep work for the Jessica Jones spin-off, Luke Cage. If you have superhero fatigue, well... Sucks to be you.
-Guess what? Robert Downey Jr. may not be down with his expensive suit yet.
-THIS WEEK IN TRAILERS: Not so much new, as there are MANY! Ten, to be precise.
